Noah's Story

"It all started with Grandma Lola"...

Noah's Story

Dr. Trent Jones received a call one evening just before Christmas in 2013 from the grandmother of Noah, a 7-year-old boy suffering from Dravet's syndrome. This severe neurological disorder causes chronic inflammation in the brain, leading to relentless epileptic seizures. Despite receiving the best medical care available, Noah's condition was dire; he couldn't talk, walk, or even leave his bed, and was experiencing about 50 seizures a day. His grandmother, desperate for help, reached out to Dr. Jones after hearing about his experience with natural plant medicines and aquaponics.

Dr. Jones, who had cared for more than 20,000 patients during his chiropractic career, was moved by Noah’s story. Inspired by the emerging news about hemp-derived CBD's potential to manage seizures, he decided to retire from his practice in Indiana and dedicate himself to helping Noah and others like him. By February 2014, the USDA Farm Bill fully legalized industrial hemp research, paving the way for Dr. Jones to pursue his mission in California, the only state with comprehensive hemp laws at the time.

He purchased an off-grid property in the sparse and mysterious Mojave Desert, a location that offered seclusion and security for his work. Living without running water or electricity for over two and a half years, Dr. Jones faced numerous challenges. Law enforcement often confused hemp with marijuana, and developing a hemp plant with low THC and high CBD content was a daunting task. Despite these obstacles, Dr. Jones was determined.

He transported aquaponic farming equipment from Indiana to California and set up four aquaponic beds. However, his initial attempt to grow high-CBD, low-THC cannabis plants resulted in disaster. The intense desert sun scalded the plants, turning their leaves white and eventually killing them. Yet, in a remarkable turn of events, new plants began to sprout from the dead ones. These new plants had genetically mutated to survive the harsh conditions, resulting in a high-CBD industrial hemp strain with less than 0.3% THC, which he named "Noah."

Dr. Jones learned that these plants had naturally adapted by dropping THC and producing only CBD.

Independent laboratories verified the chemistry of the "Noah" hemp, marking a significant breakthrough. He then mastered the process of extracting oils from these plants and formulated tinctures for Noah. Within days of using the tinctures, Noah's seizures reduced dramatically from about 50 per day to 1 or 2 per day. Within a few months, his seizures had decreased to 1 or 2 per month, allowing Noah and his family to visit Walt Disney World in Florida—a testament to the effectiveness of the treatment.

This success validated Dr. Jones' purpose and inspired him to expand his work. Over the next year, he learned to recreate the genetic mutation in plants, increasing the diversity of biochemical compounds to target specific symptoms more effectively. His research focused on creating whole plant extracts, utilizing the synergy of various compounds for greater therapeutic benefits.

Dr. Jones' journey, driven by a desire to help Noah, evolved into a broader mission to develop effective treatments for various chronic diseases. His work in the Mojave Desert not only transformed Noah's life but also opened up new possibilities for treating conditions with natural, whole plant medicines.
